Technical overview

Electropure™ Electrodeionization Technology

Electrodeionization (EDI) continuously polishes RO permeate to ultrapure quality by using a DC electric field to drive ion migration through Excellion™ ion-exchange membranes, so the resin is regenerated electrically with no regeneration chemicals. The EXL series offers four module sizes scaled from 4.5 to 10 m³/h, all sharing the same plate-and-frame architecture, Excellion™ membranes, and permanent O-ring seals. HTS variants (EXL-510/610/710/810-HTS) support hot-water sanitization to 85 °C for pharmaceutical applications.

Key product advantages

  • No regeneration chemicals — continuous operation without acid or caustic
  • Patented Excellion™ membranes with 'never-leak' permanent O-ring seals
  • Thin-concentrate “non-scaling” technology (SnowPure’s datasheet term); scale risk is managed through the feed hardness limit, which SnowPure prints per document and ties to the recovery route: below 1.0 ppm at 90% recovery (manual, generic sheet, installation checklist), below 0.5 recommended / below 1 maximum ppm on the EXL sheets with no recovery named; none printed at 95% or 99%
  • Up to 99% water recovery with concentrate returned to the RO inlet (about 90% if concentrate goes to drain), with modular capacity expansion
  • SnowPure states the EXL has the same physical profile as E-Cell MK3 and Ionpure LX modules
  • SnowPure lists separate EXL-HTS models for hot-water sanitisation to 85 °C; they are not on this record
  • SnowPure reports a longest observed module life of 15 years (product line not stated) and cites more than 25 years of proven performance on its product page

A closer look

Studio product photograph of a single SnowPure Electropure EDI EXL module — a tall, matte-grey rectangular plate-and-frame module standing vertically on a dark ink-navy studio background, with a large circular +GF+ union port fitting near the top of the front face, blue 'EXL / Electropure® EDI' branding centred on the front panel, and bolted side-plate construction visible at the edges. A dark text block across the bottom covers the base of the module and carries the headline “EDI polishing”, with “EDI” picked out in cyan, and the subtitle “Continuous EDI · no regeneration chemicals”.
